Tight qualifying sees Shahril lead the Junior Talent Team charge in Jerez

14 September 2024

It was the Malaysian, Danial Shahril, that put in the fastest JTT time to head row eight on a sweltering Saturday at Jerez

The Asia Talent Team rider will line up from P22 on the grid for Sunday’s FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship double-header from Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. The Malaysian just missed out on a place in Q2 as the track conditions became a little trickier with the climbing temperature in the afternoon. The #57 was in the mix to progress into the next part of qualifying but would eventually miss out by three-tenths. However, Shahril has shown in previous rounds strong racecraft and will be ready to unleash the speed in both JuniorGP races.
Arbi Aditama will line up two positions further back, the Indonesian star fell just short of a direct place in Q2 in Practice, setting a quick time. However, as the afternoon sun shone on Jerez, the lap times increased and the Astra Honda Racing Team rider, like many others, struggled to replicate the times set in the morning. Despite that, the speed he showed in the morning will give Aditama the confidence to fight for the points.
Further back, Jakkreephat Phuettisan (Honda Racing Thailand) and Amon Odaki (Asia Talent Team) will line up alongside one another in P30 and P31, as the two rookies continue their adaptation to the JuniorGP™ class. Both the Thai and Japanese riders have proven in previous rounds their ability to progress in the race.
Round 5 of the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship from Jerez will get underway from 11:00 (UTC+2) on Sunday with JuniorGP ™ starting proceedings and the JTT will be looking to put on a show.
