Little reward for the Junior Talent Team as Buasri battles back to 14th in Race 2
Two races faced the Junior Talent Team under the blazing sun of Barcelona. Track temperatures soared and battles were fought as a handful of precious points weren’t quite a worthy reward after lot of hard work at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya.
First on the billing, Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship Race 1 got underway at 11am local time this morning. Ambient and track temperatures were already soaring, but it didn’t seem to affect the Junior Talent Team riders as in the early laps all were battling inside the top 15. At the flag, Tatchakorn Buasri and Danial Shahril would slip to 13th and 14th to pick up precious points in difficult conditions. Eddie O’Shea was only one place outside the points in 16th as Arbi Aditama would come home 28th after misfortune struck on lap 8 seeing him drop from 17th to 27th.
Just a few hours later, refuelled and refreshed Race 2 for JuniorGP™ got underway in an incredible 36°C ambient temperature. After getting the holeshot, Buasri pulled off a fine ride to finish 14th after having to fight back from 27th due to a trip through the gravel after contact at Turn 1. Unfortunately, no more points were to be awarded for the Junior Talent Team as both O’Shea and Shahril were caught up in a lap 1 crash and then on lap 9 Aditama’s race also met an early end.
The Junior Talent Team rolls on to Jerez with Buasri holding 7th in the standings. Shahril adds two more points to his rookie season tally as O’Shea and Aditama will hope better luck falls their way in Jerez.
The Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto awaits in three weeks’ time as the Junior Talent Team face another two races on the 3rd of July. It’s sure to be scintillating both on and off the track, we’ll see you there.
