Another stunning season on the Road to MotoGP™ comes to a close with a final showdown in Portugal
The season finale for the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship is about to get going in Portugal, with the classic Circuito do Estoril playing host for a history-making mid-week round, with the change of venue and timeslot obliged by the flooding in Valencia. For the Junior Talent Team in the JuniorGP™ category, it’s a two-race final race event, with two more chances to aim for the points, top ten and podium.
Malaysian Danial Shahril arrives as the lead JTT rider, and knowing his best result of the season so far came at this very same Estoril. He’ll be looking to change that top five into something even bigger and sign off from a solid season of progress in style.
Arbi Aditama, meanwhile, will be taking on the Portuguese track for the first time this season after the start to 2024 was interrupted by some injury struggles for the Indonesian. He’ll want to at least turn his points total into double digits and get back into that top ten after a tough season coming back.
Rookie Amon Odaki, meanwhile, is just a single point ahead of his more veteran teammate Aditama, and he missed out on scoring on the first visit to Estoril this season. Tough conditions led him to miss out on racing at all. This time round with more experience – and a great bounce back to take several points finishes since – will see him aiming to rewrite that chapter in his favour on take two.
Finally, Thai rider Jakkreephat Phuettisan now has two races left to score. The Thai rookie has had a year of learning and solid experience on the Road to MotoGP™, and just has that final piece left to put in the puzzle. Can he do it in Estoril?
We’re about to find out as JuniorGP™ go racing on Wednesday the 27th of November, with Race 1 at 11:00 (UTC) and Race 2 rounding out the year at 14:00.
