Junior Talent Team ready to master MotorLand

Aragon is up next, with the JTT ready to attack before summer break

The last race before the summer break sees the Junior Talent Team raring to race in the next date on the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship calendar: MotorLand Aragon. A challenging and technical track, the venue is like an outpost of speed in the rural outskirts of Alcañiz, with racing history in the area stretching back decades.

Yuki Kunii arrives aiming to make a little more of that, only 28 points down despite having undergone surgery and missed Barcelona, and he’ll certainly have a single focus: cutting the deficit now he’s back to fully fit. In the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Kunii was back on the top step last time out, and he’ll be wanting to stamp some authority back on the CEV too. Although not the best round for the Japanese rider last year, Kunii has been the man to beat everywhere this season and MotorLand could likely prove no different.

So what of his rookie teammates? Haruki Noguchi took home his best finish yet in Race 1 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and he’s now equal on points with Mario Aji. Noguchi has been making solid progress and will want more of the same, and Aji will want to take some solid points after a more difficult run in the dry. And as well as wanting to beat the rest of the field, with the two on perfect parity in the points they’ll most definitely want to beat each other.

Max Cook, meanwhile, arrives to race in British Talent Team colours from a first podium in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, so he’ll be walking tall into MotorLand. The Brit moved some bad luck aside last time out in Barcelona and took points in both races, so a bigger haul will be on the agenda at Aragon. Finally, Bill Van Eerde is another who is on form and finding his feet after the big step up from the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup. The Australian only spent one year in the Cup – last year, when he took the crown – and he’s making good progress every weekend as he makes the step to the Moto3™ Junior World Championship. Both Cook and Van Eerde know the track from the Rookies, will that experience help them hit the ground running?

There is one race for the Moto3™ field and the JTT at MotorLand Aragon. Tune in at 13:00 local time (GMT +2) for the last race before school’s out for summer!
