Front row for the Asia Talent Team in Valencia

08 July 2017

P2 and P3 taken by Kazuki Masaki and Andi Farid for round four

The Asia Talent Team will be starting the fourth round of the 2017 FIM CEV Repsol from the front row – with Kazuki Masaki taking second and Andi Farid taking third. Masaki’s fastest lap for P2, as well as a front row start, is also only 0.044 off pole position.

Yuki Kunii had a more difficult day’s work, but will start from a solid P14 looking to move forward after a crash in Q1 meant the Japanese youngster was unable to improve his laptime. Masaki also crashed but in Q2 – both riders ok.

The weather was dry and partly sunny, with temperatures reaching the mid-thirties during the hottest part of the day. In Q1 times were largely faster before temperatures soared, with all three Asia Talent Team riders quicker in the first session than the second – in line with the majority.

There are two races on Sunday for the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship, with Race 1 underway at 11:00 (GMT +2) and Race 2 at 14:00 (GMT +2) on Sunday. Both are 18 laps.

As always all of the action can be followed LIVE on FIM CEV Repsol YouTube channel.

Alberto Puig, Asia Talent Team Director: “It was not bad – not perfect but it’s ok. They were faster in the morning like everyone, and I think we have not so bad qualifications for the race. They did quite a lot of laps, which is one of the targets we asked them to achieve. It will be tough tomorrow, but it is for everyone – they have to survive out there. The base setting of the bike they say is ‘acceptable’, so now it’s up to them to see how they can manage. It’s not a good thing to change the bike a lot before the race so on this we’re ok.”
