Summer break over with a bang as Ogura lines up in second
Ai Ogura is ready to lead the Asia Talent Team charge at the Circuito de Jerez, lining up on the front row in second as the summer break comes to an end. Near the top of the timesheets in both qualifying sessions, the Estoril podium finisher picked up where he left off and is raring to race.
Teammate Kazuki Masaki – also on the podium in Portugal, and in P2 – is the next Asia Talent Team rider on the grid in P13, but did show solid pace in the hotter temperatures of the afternoon to go second, although times were over a second off those of the morning. Somkiat Chantra, who returns to the fold this weekend after being sidelined through injury, will be wanting to move up further from his starting position of 21st too – and Andi Farid is another looking to make some big gains on race day at Jerez, lining up in P23. With 16 laps of Jerez per race, there’s everything to play for.
With two races for the Moto3™ field in this round, it’s 50 points at stake. Race 1 begins at 11:00 (GMT +2), before the lights go out again at 14:00 for Race 2.
