Asia Talent Team raring to get back on track at Jerez

13 September 2017

The FIM CEV Repsol resumes in Andalucia for next Round 6

The arrival of Autumn also means the arrival of racing in the FIM CEV Repsol, with the summer break officially over and bikes back on track from the 15th to 17th September. The stage is the stunning 4.4km Circuito de Jerez in Andalucia, and the Asia Talent Team are sure to play lead roles once again.

Kazuki Masaki is the lead Asia Talent Team rider in the standings ahead of Round 6, and the Japanese rider sits in sixth with 67 points. After a podium, last time out at Estoril, Masaki will be eager to get going again as he hones in on the top five in the Championship.

Masaki shared the podium in Portugal with Ai Ogura, who came third. He’ll be another raring to go as Jerez appears on the horizon, looking to keep that momentum sustained. Currently on 27 points, Ogura wants to add to that tally quickly. And Indonesian rider Andi Farid is only a further five points back, meaning it’s all to play for both as they look to ascend in the standings.

The second Asia Talent Team rider in the Championship after a solid first half of the season is Yuki Kunii, but he will sadly be forced to sit out the weekend at Jerez, unfit after a crash in Portugal. One rider who will be back, however, is reigning Asia Talent Cup Champion Somkiat Chantra. The Thai rider has already taken a pole position as a rookie this season, and will be looking to end the year on a high as he readies for an assault on 2018.

Last season, Masaki took fifth in Race 1 at Jerez as the top Asia Talent Team finisher, with former teammates Kaito Toba and Ayumu Sasaki taking P4 and P5 respectively in Race 2. That will form a good target for the class of 2017 to be aiming at in Round 6 this year.

Jerez is a true jewel on any motorsport calendar, and the perfect place to kick the second half of the 2017 FIM CEV Repsol season back into gear. So, get ready to race, with action from the 15th to 17th September.

As always all of the action can be followed on FIM CEV Repsol YouTube channel.
