A great performance from Toba, Date and Norrodin in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship in Albacete.
Kaito Toba, Yuta Date and Adam Norrodin all performed brilliantly in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship round held at the Circuito de Albacete.
Starting from the middle of the grid, all three made a great start and rapidly gained positions, finding themselves in the second group. Track conditions were difficult, overnight rain had left the track cold and with several wet patches even into the early afternoon.
After an intense race consisting of 19 laps, the Albacete circuit, which had seen Aaron Canet dominate, had Kaito Toba finish in ninth position after a tough battle with Jaume Masia. A few second back saw Yuta Date earn a solid tenth position, while Norrodin ended the race in 14th. For the first time this season all three riders in the Asia Talent Team were able to finish in the points.
Hiroshi Aoyama – Rider Adviser: “This weekend has not been easy for us, but the riders gave the best they could. The other teams did a test before this and we did not attend so we carried a bit of a handicap into this round. These kind of conditions with rain on Saturday and today without the sun are very difficult. Finding the right setting of the bike is important to get the riders comfortable on track. During the race the riders improved all their positions, of course it’s not a perfect race, but at least we got some better positions compared to Qualifying.
These three riders are young and still learning and improving their skills. Still, they have to push a little bit more but I’m sure they can do better next race. We as a team need to support them till the end and give them an improved and more competitive bikes.”
The next meeting of the Asia Talent Team in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship will take place on October 4 at the Circuito de Navarra.
