Toba, Date and Norrodin return to action in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship.
The fifth round of the Moto3™ Junior World Championship is set to get underway at the Circuito de Albacete this weekend in the FIM CEV Repsol series.
Kaito Toba, Yuta Date and Adam Norrodin, the three components of the Asia Talent Team, come to this round with the intention of continuing the progress displayed before the midseason break.
It’s been two months since the last race of the championship was held in Aragon. It was there that Toba was involved in the podium battle in both races, missing out in the first by only 1.2 seconds. In the second race he fell while fighting for top positions. For their part, both Date and Norrodin suffered problems in the first race but were able to score points the second time out finishing in 11th and 15th respectively.
After suffering in temperatures close to 40 degrees in Aragon, unstable weather is expected to hit Albacete this weekend with chances of rain on Friday and Sunday. All this will be a test for the riders, many unaccustomed to racing in such conditions but all are aware that it is another stage of learning and racing in Europe.
The circuit of Albacete is just 3,500m long, the shortest in the championship calendar but by no means the easiest. With eight right hand bends and six lefts, the track requires a very precise approach, as there is little margin for error. Recent months have seen the track resurfaced and three corners have been modified for increased safety.
The pilots of the Asia Talent Team will have two practice sessions on Friday and two Qualifying sessions on Saturday at 9:45 and 13:00 Local Time. The Moto3™ Junior World Championship race is scheduled for Sunday at 13:00 Local time and will take place over 19 laps.
