A rollercoaster day in qualifying for the Junior Talent Team ahead of Round 4 in Portimao

22 June 2024

Indonesian rider Arbi Aditama leads the team’s charge from the eighth row on the grid after missing out on a place in Q2

Aditama put in a valiant display during a sweltering Saturday afternoon at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, the Astra Honda Racing Team rider left his efforts late to push through to Q2, however a lap time of 1:49.392 wasn’t quite enough to secure a spot in Q2 and the Indonesian will launch from P22 in Sunday’s FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship double-header. The #93 was in the leading group in both races in 2023 and will be looking for a strong start in the two races to run with the front group to be in the mix for a good result.

Amon Odaki will start right alongside his JTT teammate from P23 on the grid, equalling the best qualifying of the season for the Japanese rider. The Asia Talent Team rider has shown well in coming through the field to score a good result in previous races and will aim to do the same again on Sunday to add even more points onto the board in what has already been a solid rookie campaign.

Danial Shahril locks out the eighth row for the JTT after a tough Q1 which saw the Malaysian only complete 5 laps in qualifying without an extra push towards the end which could’ve been the difference between making it through to Q2 and missing out. The Asia Talent Team rider had a strong result in 2023 and along with his teammates will be looking to push forward when lights go out!

Elsewhere Honda Racing Thailand’s, Jakkreephat Phuettisan had a tough day and missed out on some extra running in practice. The Thai rider had an upward climb going into qualifying with less track time than his rivals but put in a solid performance to qualify only five positions from his JTT teammates.

Lights go out on Sunday for a JuniorGP™ thrill ride on The Rollercoaster in Portiamo at 11:00 (UTC+1) with Race 2 at 14:00, where the JTT riders ready to put on a strong display!
