The champion of the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup, Sasaki, made his debut in the final round of the FIM CEV Repsol and will start tomorrow’s two Moto3™ Junior World Championship rounds from an incredible sixth. Sasaki set a 1’40.440 in the first qualifying session and was provisionally fifth, but unable to improve his time in the afternoon.
Fellow Asia Talent Team riders had mixed performances. Kaito Toba had a strong showing in the first session, setting a time of 1’40.949 but was also unable to improve in the afternoon, this sees him line up 16th on the grid. Although able to better his time, Adam Norrodin’s 1’41.597 forces him to start from a distant 23rd place.
Misfortune befell Yuta Date who came to Valencia bursting with confidence after a great performance in Jerez two weeks ago. In the final minutes of the first session he suffered a hard fall, which caused a fracture in his right radius. The Japanese ace will be unable to participate in Sunday’s races due to his injuries.
